The Calm After the Storm: Ways to Help with Hurricane Sandy

We made it through the storm!

A little scary at times, but we
came through without much
damage and no power loss.

Thanking God for our
many blessings today!

Which makes me wonder
how I can help out.

Here's a couple of ways
I've found to help those
impacted besides the
American Red Cross:

Thank you for your
kind words and prayers
for our family and friends.

It means more than words
can say!

Battening Down the Hatches

Sandy is here.
I've been cooped up
with a four year old
for a few days.

And the worst is yet to come!

Here are some photos from the
beloved Southern New Jersey Shore:

This is the water from the storm surge
 inbetween two
casino's in Atlantic City.

And Lady Liberty is probably getting a
pretty good lashing...

And my favorite:
Ocean City New Jersey.
This is along the bay.

While we are a few hours away,
I am concerned about
my Mom who lives not
too far from these photos.

Keep us in your prayers!
If we lose power and
internet I will try to ship
orders and communicate
as best as I can.

Keeping my cell phone charged.

For now, we are going to
stay in, play games,
take naps, and make
yummy treats.

Hopefully I 'll be back soon
with an update on the storm.

Stay safe, all of my
East Coast pals!

Anyone Remember This?

Today we're playing
a little remember this game.

A vintage, late 1960's Suzy Homemaker Oven.
Found in my favorite thrift shop
by our lake house.

Covered in layers of dirt and no longer electrified,
the staff said: "The dirt is free!"

Then let me have it for a dollar.

I've cleaned it up and my
handy dear hubby has it
in working order now.

Since I was born in the late sixties I
DO NOT remember these.
My era is of the "Easy Bake Oven"
which came a little later?

I looked some up on eBay and they show
a different model with colored knobs.
So far I haven't seen one with the black,
except for the one I have here.

 On the back it reads
that it was made in the USA
(New Jersey) and it is 120 volts!

I'd love to hear from anyone
who remembers these
types of toys ...
feel free to drop me a line and say
"I REMEMBER THIS!"

Playing Photographer

With the leaves in their peak this past week
we decided to head to the park and
take some family photos.

We did things like throwing leaves at Daddy
 which can be such fun!

But then all the time taking pictures took its toll.
Bebe could NOT wait
to get to the playground

All of this picture taking
stuff was boring.

And finally, a happy girl!

Mommy was happy too,
with our family photos...
Although we need a bit
of practice using the
camera's timer!

We don't mind.
After all, it was free!

Falling for the Lake House

I really am!

Each time we visit our little
escape in the mountains
I fall in love a little more.

What's not to love about
 a beautiful mountain
view full of color?

Bebe had a great time.
Playing in the leaves
looking out over the water,
having new friends from the
lake over to visit.

We even brought
my Mom with us on this trip.
Having Gramma along
made it extra special!

We all went for one last canoe
ride before it was time to take
it in for the winter.

And I'm sure you know I did not
leave without stopping by
my favorite little treasure
shop in the woods!

I've already listed my latest finds to Bella Rosa

And linking up with Pink Saturday
for the Fall Foliage and Autumn Leaves theme...

ENJOY!

Scotty Dog Craz-ee

Fan of Scottie Dogs?
Even if the answer is no,
it is hard to say these
little sweeties aren't cute.

Here is one example in

I also love this style
of calendar.
You never have to throw it away
or take it down!

Here is another example of a
collectible Scottie Dog.

And is it Scottie or Scotty?

This was one of my favorites...
a former piece from my shop.
It sold right away!

I even found Scottie
PJ's from Kmart for toddler's.

Cute.
I like them because they are pink!

So, to Scottie or not to Scotty?
That, is the question.

Have a great weekend!

The Princess Party

 After years of saying
"I'm not going to do the
princess thing"
I caved.

Bebe had a princess
themed birthday party.

I even made this princess hat.

 And this "pin the hat
on the princess"game.

Okay so she's not
professional
looking but it
still worked!

 The girls decorated their own
crowns as their craft first

And then had fun
trying to place it
in the right spot.

And we played other games
like hot slipper (hot potato)
and "Most Royal Costume"
(Names picked randomly out
of a hat)

I was surprised by how
many gowns/dresses
these little girls have.

Things have changed
since I was a kid!

Like this below:

Princess Soup!

So... to sum it up.
Mommy caved.
Bebe and her friends
 had a royally
good time

And Disney
made out like a bandit.

Another day in the life over
here in Bella Rosa world!

Hope you enjoyed a
peek into our
Princess Party!

Fall is in the Air!

We have been so busy
 with all kinds of projects!

A princess birthday party
Getting a new "big girl bed"
Decorating...

This is good and fun!
But when have I had time
 to work on my shop?

I promise in the next couple of weeks
will have all of my newest finds
ready to go for you...

There are some really
nice pieces
in store.

From allrecipes.com I have a

1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup pumpkin puree
1 egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt

  1. In a bowl, mix together the milk, pumpkin, egg, oil and vinegar.
  2. Combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, allspice, cinnamon, ginger and salt in a separate bowl. Stir into the pumpkin mixture just enough to combine.
  3. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

ENJOY!
